"Several members of Congress just sent a letter to OMB re: the government's planned funding cuts from the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP), the main (and often only) data source for income and expense dynamics of US households. The attachment to the letter, listing the ways in which the data is used, is particularly compelling."

Lauren is concerned that while in the short term, cutting SIPP may save money, in the long term the lack of good data will prove costly.
