See below for some discussion of the Administrative Office's civil terminations data, which record outcomes for every case in federal district court.
The question I want to raise is, what should be different about the AO data? A few starting thoughts:
- Better procedural progress measures; was a motion to dismiss filed, was an answer filed; was a summary judgment motion filed, etc.
- Some tracking of the type of discrimination alleged, in discrimination cases.
- Count awards in single dollars, not in 1000s (which introduces error).
