A recent post over at the Statistical Modeling, Causal Inference, and Social Science blog provides a helpful reminder about one steadfast basic for empirical researchers--data plotting. I am constantly surprised (stunned, actually) by the number of researchers that neglect the fundamentals. It is difficult to overstate the importance of attending to the simple stuff.
