The most recent (and just published) issue of JELS (3:1, Mar. 2006) includes, among other articles, a piece by Cathy Sharkey (Columbia) that examines sexual harassment awards and extends prior work by Sunstein and Shih. Her findings include a "consistent, and statistically significant, positive relationship between punitive and compensatory damages." Those interested in a regression "primer" will want to see a piece by my colleagues Ted Eisenberg and Marty Wells that methodically assesses the relation between punies and comps in "blockbuster" cases.
