The Edelman/George paper on Sunstein as a legal Erdos, which Jason just blogged, uses social networking analysis. This is part of a broader movement in the academy to analyze the structural complexity that underlies a wide array of social phenomena.
One of our regular readers, Daniel Katz (a JD-MPP who is a PhD candidate in political science and public policy at Michigan) has a strong interest in this area. Computational or Agent-Based Modeling potentially offers significant insight to the legal literature. If you know of the existence of a forum or research group that links together scholars interested in strengthening the bridge between the complex systems and legal literatures, Daniel would love to hear from you. If not, Daniel may be the natural person to start one.
Thanks, I will follow up on this
